Orchids care

Orchid care is important if you want to truly be able to cultivate your plants so they thrive. People who do not take the time to educate themselves about orchids will not be successful in keeping them alive.

One of the assumptions that many people make is their orchids need to be watered very often. They assume that because orchids are indigenous to rain forests that they must need a lot of water in order to be able to survive.

The fact, however, is that if you water an orchid too frequently you will quickly kill the plant’s roots. If you are growing orchids in your home, you really only need to water them once every week to week-and-a-half. In the summer months, orchid care should include more frequent watering because the days are long and the sun is bright.

The cooler, shorter days of winter require less orchid care and less water. The best thing to do is monitor your orchid closely for the first few weeks you own it, As time passes, you will gain a better understanding of how to best care for it. It may not be a bad idea to write down things you notice about the orchids in certain temperatures. Doing this will allow you to get a better idea of exactly what it is you need to do to ensure the orchids stay alive and grow.
